Adding, moving, deleting layers
Documents always have at least one layer, which is called "Layer 1" by default. You can add and delete layers, as well as change the order in which each layer appears in the document.
To add a new layer, click the New Layer button in
the Layers panel.
The new layer appears above the current layer and is automatically named ("Layer
2," "Layer 3," and so on). If you want Expression Design to add
new layers at the top of the layer list (rather than above the current layer),
disable the "Create new layer above current layer" option in the General panel of the
Options dialog
box.
To duplicate a layer, click the layer in the Layers panel, and then choose Duplicate Layer from the panel's Options drop-down list. All of the objects on that layer are also copied.
To delete
a layer, select it (click once on its color icon or name label in the Layers
panel), and then click the Delete Layer button.
To move a layer up or down in the layer order, drag its name label in the Layers panel. The higher a layer is, the nearer to the front its objects are in the document.
